FOOD DRIVE SUCESSFUL

Thanks to all who donated to the 2016 Holiday Food Drive held by Midland Schools. The Wyoming center collected over 800 items to be evenly distributed to the food banks at Wyoming, Lost Nation and Oxford Junction. The Oxford Junction center collected many too - no count available at this time. The real winners are the people in our district who utilize the food pantries. You helped make their holiday just a little brighter. Thanks for showing you care Midland District!

The FFA collected enough items for their We Care Packages to create 70 Christmas gifts for youth in our communities. Those will be passed out at each of the food pantries. Thanks to all who donated!

WYOMING CENTER PARKING FOR EVENTS

The gym is back in use, we hope you will come out to support the Eagles. Unfortunately due to construction most will have a hike to get to the gym, keep in mind this is temporary and next year our facilities will be much more accommodating to all. Until then thanks for your patience. Please be careful walking as not all is on smooth terrain, you may want a small flashlight to navigate your way.

Here is our parking scenario for now: Midland Middle/High School Map

Entrance doors are the doors on EAST end of school in front of portable classroom or NE corner by bus barn, marked with yellow triangles. Parking is marked in blue and is available along Washington Street, Green Street one block East, the bus driveway, the drive by the Bronson building, behind and West of PPF and West of gym. It will be tight so please park responsibly.

It would be great if we could leave the spots by the portable for handicapped or elderly guests.

The bus driveway is a one way street going from Washington to Jones Street - you can park on both sides diagonally.

Thanks for bearing with us during construction. The inconveniences this year will lead to wonderful improvements for future years!

GO EAGLES!

REMEMBERING B, FOREVER AN EAGLE

John Lyle Byers 1/30/37-11/21/16

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that long time former shop/drivers ed teacher and wrestling/football coach John Byers passed away on November 21, 2016. His visitation and funeral were Nov 26 and 27 through Lahey's Funeral Home. Our home wrestling tournament was named after Mr. Byers dearly known as B by a great many Midland students over many years. Probably every MHS graduate from the age of 30-55 has a story they remember about Mr. B.

His obituary is at http://www.laheys.com/notices/JohnMrB-Byers

Please keep his family in your thoughts. To borrow a fitting phrase from his daughter Mimi, Goodnight John, you played a heck of a game.

FOOTBALL TEAM FINISHES HISTORIC SEASON

Special thank you to Daryl Schepanski from the Anamosa Journal-Eureka for the photo!

Congratulations to the Midland football team. 333 teams entered this season and Midland was one of the top 4 teams in the state in the 8 man division! They met up with a very talented Don Bosco team in the state playoffs at the UNI Dome on Nov 10 and lost, but they had an outstanding season! They represented themselves, their families, their school and their community very well.

This team of young men has set the bar high for future Midland teams. This year's JV team was undefeated so we are looking for big things from them in the future as well. Thanks for all of the memories seniors, you will be greatly missed.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all who supported all of the extra efforts on behalf of the team throughout the community. The support from parents, grandparents, businesses, family and friends was outstanding! Together we can do great things!
