Sign up has begun for the 2026 Midland Drivers Education Class. Classes and drive times will be completed during May and June of 2026. Students and parents should carefully read the class syllabus and calendar before signing up. You must be able to committ to the dates on the calendar as attendance is a mandatory state of Iowa requirement, two absences or more than 2 tardies will result in the participant being dropped from the class.
Students MUST have their Iowa drivers permit before the first day of class, May 27th.
Students are expected to complete 20-30 hours of behind the wheel driving time before the class begins. The amount of driving we do in class is not enough for you to become a competent driver. You must get out and drive with a parent/guardian.
There will be an informational meeting in May before the class begins, we will collect copies of your driving permit, figure out driving partners, and somewhat schedule drive times. Class is limited to 12 students and may be decided by student age and experience if needed. If another instructor is hired, the number may be increased as needed.
Drivers ed class costs $450.00. Students who qualify for reduced lunch will pay $225.00. Students who qualify for free lunches will have the fee waived. If questions, contact the high school office. Fees are payable to Midland CSD via cash or check and must be paid by May 27th when class starts.
