February 6, 2026 – Midland Fun

Midland High School hosted a wide variety of activities on Friday, February 6, 2026 in the gyms besides basketball against Calamus-Wheatland.

Our JV boys and girls played their games in the Black Gym.

The evening in the Gold Gym started out with our middle school choir under the direction of Heidi Streets doing an outstanding job singing the National Anthem.

Our student section did amazing for both teams. We love their positive support in the Gold Gym!

The Eagle Pep Band under the direction of Jaklyn Lamphier was on hand to lend atmosphere to the gym. Thanks guys and gals!

Our varsity girls played Calamus Wheatland in a Pink Out game, coming up just short in a tightly contested game. They are very appreciative of the anonymous supporter who donated the pink basketball uniforms and sent pink corsages to the girls that day.

At girls haftime we had a performance by the Youth Dance Clinic students. Our high school Golddusters Dance Team and coach Kelly Versendaal had worked with the students after school on Thursday. All had a great time performing and did a great job in front of the gym full of people.

Between games we had our Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony for Audrey Smith and John Meyer. For information on their membership please check out our Hall of Fame Webpage: https://www.midland.k12.ia.us/hall-of-fame/

The boys took to the court and came up short against a very talented Cal-Wheat team.

Our girls wrestling team had a bakesale throughout the evening and at halftime of the boys’ game they had fundraiser Chuck A Duck – the winner was Kylie LaFella who donated her half of the 50-50 profits to the Midland Girls Track team. Thanks to all who donated to these fundraisers.

What a great evening of fun in the Midland gyms! We thank everyone who had any part in these activities! It takes a lot of volunteers and communication to pull these fun events off. We are appreciative of every little part that was played in making this a memorable evening for all who attended!
