ECKHARDT IS FIRST EVER STATE GIRLS WRESTLING PARTICIPANT

Midland sophomore Alyssa Eckhardt was the first ever girls state wrestling participant from Midland schools. She capped off a great first season by finishing 4th in her regional at 115 to qualify for the state meet. She lost a tough first match to a girl from Waterloo East (the girls state meet was not classed by school size, it was all wrestlers together based on weight divisions) by fall in the third period. Her second match she was ahead 10-4 when she was caught on her back and pinned. She will forever be a champion in our book as she represented herself and her school in great style, keep up the great work girl. Big things are ahead!
