2026-2027 School Year Information

Midland is in the middle of an upgrade to PowerSchool. We are transitioning to MyPowerHub which we think of as a house for the different products we will offer for parent use.

For now parents will continue to use PowerSchool as they have in the past, you can click on the MyPowerHub link in the left hand navigation column to take a peak at what will be our norm in the near future. More information will be sent out as we get MyPowerHub set up.

Inside MyPowerHub will be:

PowerSchool – to use for parents/students to check grades, attendance, assignments, lunch balances – like you always have. You will complete E-registration forms here again this year.

PowerSchool Pay – we will be offering an online payment method, more information when that is available – we are hoping by August 1st. We hope this makes things easier with the convenience of paying registration, lunch accounts, fees, etc. all online.

PowerSchool Messenger – this will take the place of ParentSquare once set up (we will be using ParentSquare until this is fully functional so don’t delete that app yet). This will be a two way communication method used by staff members to communicate information, photos, etc to parents and students. You will be able to fill out forms for things like field trips, sign up for things like Parent/Teacher Conferences here as well.

PowerSchool Communicate – this will be a one way communication tool that will be used by school administrators to blast out information on school delays, closures, or emergency information

Safe Arrival – this piece allows parents to communicate absences directly to the school. It will run a report each morning and send communication to parents who have not previously contacted us about any absences for their student.

As part of this process we are asking all parents who wish to receive information from staff to OPT IN for text messages:

More information will be sent out when set up, including the direct URL and the APP as well as instructions on how to use these products. We are excited for the convenience these products will offer our parents.

If you need any information that you can’t find here, please call the school at 319-259-5340.

Only students who are brand new to Midland need to fill out the Home Language Survey – everyone returning can skip over that form!

Parents can use a computer at home, a computer at your local library, or request a personal one-on-one appointment to get help or to use a computer at school by calling a secretary at 319-259-5340.

  2. Student Address

REGISTRATION PAYMENTS

2026-27 School Registration Fees can be paid via cash or check payable to Midland CSD. We are currently working on setting up PowerSchool Payments so parents can pay online. We are hoping to have this system up and working by August 1st. More information will be sent out to parents once set up.

Registration payment form – can be printed and turned in to either office with cash/check payments. It can be mailed to us at Midland CSD, ATTN: Registration Payments, PO Box 109, Wyoming, IA 52362

We also need payments separated into these three categories for accounting purposes:

  1. School registration fees, including computer insurance
  2. Lunches
  3. Athletic passes

All fees need paid by August 15 to ensure the money gets into the student account prior to the first day of school. Unfortunately the offices don’t have much cash, so please be sure to bring exact cash or close to it, we can’t break large bills.

Parents and students should be able to see their students’ lunch account balance and the charges made to their account during the year in their PowerSchool account. Lunch account balances at the end of last year rolled over to this school year. Parents of middle/high school students are strongly encouraged to discuss the amount you want your child to spend on ala carte items.

First day of school is Monday, August 24th. We will have a 2 hour early dismissal that day. The first day of high school runs from 8:00-1:20 (regular days dismiss at 3:20). The first day of elementary runs from 8:00-1:15 (regular days dismiss at 3:15)

ELEMENTARY COURSE SCHEDULES

Elementary students will not see their schedules or homeroom assignments until right before school starts. This allows us to take in newly registered students and balance the classes. Please be patient, we will post when those are available a week or so before school starts.

HIGH SCHOOL COURSE SCHEDULE CHANGES

Middle/high school students and their parents can now see their 2026-27 course schedules in PowerSchool.

Middle schoolers can only change their participation in music courses, if they need a schedule change a parent needs to contact Michelle in the office.

High school students should all check their schedules in PowerSchool. Your most important summer task is to be sure your schedule is good to go by August 24th!

Mrs. Willms has set aside time for scheduling changes on:

July 22 & July 30 from 8-4 and August 12 from 8:00-5:30 for appointments.

If you are wanting to meet with her, please sign up for a time at: https://calendar.app.google/fQiXVykHgUn8619e6. If these days do not work for you, please let her know, she may have other times available. Reminder: Mrs. Lasack will not be available for schedule changes, so please let Mrs. Willms know if you need something.

Kirkwood questions can be sent directly to Megan.Stadtmueller@kirkwood.edu

If you still need to sign up for Kirkwood classes, please use this website: https://kirkwood.dualenroll.com/signin

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

2026-27 School Supply List

THANK YOU to PATS for providing the needed school supplies for our students in PS-6th grade!! Their support makes a huge difference for our elementary familes!

For families needing help with school supplies, please reach out directly to Jones County Family Council for this program:

Open House is a great time for students to bring their school supplies and settle them in their desk or locker. Both buildings have a few new faces, come meet our new staff. Parents can tour the buildings and ask any questions they may have. Any fees not paid could be dropped off in the offices. Principal and counselor should be in both buildings.

TRANSPORTATION

Our Transportation Director, John Stender, is working on updating our bus information for the year.

If you are new to the district and need picked up on a country bus route please be sure to call him ASAP at 319-259-5340 ext 1350 so you get added.

TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

Watch for complete routes on the transportation website in August for pick up times. Changes may need to be made the first couple of days of school, so please be patient while we work it all out to pick up every student in our district. Transportation Website

Students who live in the Olin School District and attend Midland Middle/High School would need to contact Olin Schools Transportation Department for route information each year.

We hope you enjoy your summer! We look forward to seeing all students on August 24th!
