THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! The Midland staff celebrated the retirement of two long time Midland employees recently. Jan Henkes has worked for Midland CSD for 28 years as both a para and custodian at the Wyoming center. She had previously worked as a para at Lost Nation Middle
Elementary students worked together to finish the student created Leader in Me mural. Each elementary student added either a handprint to the tree or flower, or a thumbprint to make a bug. Even the two elementary therapy dogs got to add their pawprint.
The 5th graders took a field trip to Little Bear to wrap up their golf unit and tie together their learning on a real course. We couldn’t ask for a more beautiful morning, and many in the group began their love for golf. Thank you to Little Bear Golf Course
Elementary students work together to paint a Leader in Me mural in the gym that was designed and drawn by Hadley Eganhouse. Kindergarten-5th grade students voted on drawings that were submitted to determine what student design would be used. Check it out next time you go to the elementary! Great
Things are hatching in 1st Grade! Mrs. Gnade’s 1st Grade class has hatched chickens. She used the Iowa Ag Literacy Foundation Grant to support this program.
April 11th, was National Therapy Dog Day! Midland Elementary is so lucky to have 2 school therapy dogs! Bruce and Bigs help students (and staff) each and every day! They are always up for a pet and can help put a smile on all our faces.
5th grade students recently finished reading a version of Don Quixote. After learning about knights and heraldry, they got a chance to design other own shields using a 3D printer. The software is definitely a challenge to figure out, but here are some cool shields!
Mrs. Allen reports that Kindergarten has started their Animals 2×2 science kits. We are learning about pond snails, guppies, and gold fish.
