Request for Proposals (RFP)
1. Introduction
The Midland Community School District (“District”) is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to complete exterior metal siding replacement and interior improvements to the Transportation Shed located at the Oxford Junction Elementary campus.
The purpose of this project is to improve the building’s appearance, weather resistance, and long-term durability while addressing identified interior repairs and upgrades.

Contractors are strongly encouraged to schedule a site visit before submitting a proposal.
3. Scope of Work
The selected contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, permits (if required), and related services necessary to complete the project.
Exterior Improvements
- Remove and dispose of the existing exterior wall covering (provide as an alternate bid).
- Inspect wall framing for deterioration or structural damage.
- Replace damaged framing members as approved by the District.
- Install new steel exterior wall panels.
- Install all required trim, corner pieces, flashing, closures, and fasteners.
- Seal all joints and penetrations to provide a weather-tight building envelope.
- Provide an alternate bid for replacement of all exterior overhead and walk-through doors.
Interior Improvements
- Install new interior liner panels or another District-approved finish material in designated areas.
- Insulate identified interior wall sections.
- Complete all interior work in a professional manner with secure installation and clean finishes.
Cleanup
- Remove and properly dispose of all construction debris upon project completion.
4. Contractor Qualifications
Contractors should meet the following qualifications:
- Licensed to perform work in the State of Iowa.
- Experience with commercial or agricultural metal building construction.
- Proof of General Liability and Workers’ Compensation insurance.
- References for similar completed projects (preferred but not required).
5. Proposal Requirements
Proposals should include:
- Company background and qualifications.
- Warranty information.
- Description of the proposed construction approach.
- List of proposed materials.
- Itemized project pricing.
- Pricing for all alternate bid items.
6. Project Timeline

7. Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on:
- Overall project cost
- Ability to meet the project schedule
- Quality of materials and proposed approach
- Overall value provided to the District
The District reserves the right to accept the proposal determined to be in the best interest of the District.

9. Award of Contract
The District anticipates awarding the contract following review of submitted proposals and approval by the Midland Community School District Board of Directors on or about November 11, 2026.
The District reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, waive informalities, request additional information, or cancel this Request for Proposals at any time.
